Brisbane, California is nestled on the eastern slope of San Bruno Mountain. It's a small town and Steve, Ann, Keith and Sam have lived there for 16 years or so. Oddly enough the two couples had never met until the spring of 2006 when a mutual friend introduced them. At the time, Steve and Ann, along with David Brown (also a Brisbane resident and filmmaker) had begun work on a documentary film about the fascinating story of the mountain. Much research and many interviews had taken place, and it was time to begin filming the mountain itself, along with its rare butterflies. Keith had just acquired his first High Definition video camera and had been testing it out with some nature filming. Both he and Sam thought the mountain story was a great project, so they began daily hikes up the mountain to film the rare butterflies and the many other treasures on the mountain. They were lucky enough to get some amazing and unique footage. Steve, Ann, Keith and Sam formed Steve and Ann met while getting their Master of Fine Arts degrees at the prestigious UCLA film school. Together they have made dozens of films over the past twenty-five years, many for the U.S. Forest Service. Their award-winning The Greatest Good (2005) was internationally screened and widely acclaimed. Keith and Sam met at the renowned Plush Room in San Francisco. He was the sound engineer and lighting designer, and she was the headwaiter and they were both professional musicians. They got to know each other while Sam was recording in Keith's studio, Pyramind Sound, and later when they were in a band together. |
Steve and Ann have produced dozens of programs mainly about conservation and environmental subjects.
